Yakshagana Kalaranga hands over 100th house to II PUC student
Yakshagana Kalaranga Udupi members handing over their 100th house, named ‘Shatasmruti’ to a beneficiary Sunday

Udupi: Yakshagana Kalaranga Sunday handed over its 100th house, ‘Shatasmruti’, at Shivapura of Hebri Taluk in Udupi district, built at a cost of Rs 7 lakh through contributions from beneficiaries, to Sinchana, a II PUC student, under its Vidyaposhak scheme. She is the daughter of Shakuntala and Shiva.The house was inaugurated by Udayakumar Saralattaya, Diwan, Paryaya Shiroor Mutt. He said that while Annadana is a noble act, ‘Vidyadana’ is even greater as education empowers a person to earn a livelihood. He lauded Yakshagana Kalaranga for going a step further by providing a home to create a conducive environment for education. Blessing the organisation with ‘Sri Krishna Prasada’, he said the Paryaya Shiroor Mutt would always stand by Yakshagana Kalaranga in its service activities.Presiding over the function, Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar said the work being carried out by Yakshagana Kalaranga serves as a model for others. Yakshagana Kalaranga president M Gangadhara Rao, Narayan M Hegde and secretary Murali Kadekar were present.
