Mangaluru: The mortal remains of Mohammed Aniz Abubakker,21, who passed away in Germany, are expected to arrive in Bengaluru in the early hours of Monday. Later, the body will be transported to his hometown at Marakada, Kunjathbail, Mangaluru. The funeral prayers and final rites will be held at the cemetery in Kunjathbail, said advocate PA Hameed Padubidri, a pro bono lawyer and social worker based in Riyadh, Saudi ArabiaHe said that the repatriation process was completed through the coordinated efforts of Aslam Ullal, who is based in the Netherlands and was authorised through a power of attorney to undertake the necessary formalities, including receiving the mortal remains; the Embassy of India in Germany; and advocate Hameed Padubidri. MLC Arathi Krishna also extended her valuable support in facilitating and expediting the necessary procedures.The coordinated efforts of the Indian Embassy and other local social organisations helped complete the required documentation and formalities, enabling the mortal remains to be brought back to his homeland, where his family and loved ones will perform his final rites.

The student reportedly died in a drowning incident in Germany on July 2. Aniz had gone trekking with his classmates and friends. Later, the group reportedly visited a water recreation area near the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig, about 35km from Halle. Emergency responders were reportedly called to the Landauer Bridge area near Hans-Driesch Street, where a body was recovered from the water. The deceased was later identified, and the body was shifted to a hospital in Halle, said advocate Hameed.Aniz was pursuing a bachelor of business administration (BBA) programme at Rahn Education Institution in Halle, Germany, and was studying in the third semester. He had moved to Germany around one and a half years ago after completing his pre-university education in Mangaluru. He was the son of Marakada Abubakker Siddiq, who is currently employed with a private company in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
