Udupi: Brahmavar police have registered a case against a home nurse and a Udupi-based nursing agency after Rs 1.60 lakh was allegedly transferred from the bank account of a critically ill man without his knowledge.According to a complaint filed by a resident of Saibrakatte in Yadthadi village, her husband was seriously ill and required a home nurse. She contacted a Udupi-based agency and paid Rs 28,000 in advance. The agency allegedly sent a male caregiver, Sachin, to their house on June 25.On July 7, Sachin allegedly left for his hometown, citing urgent work. On July 28, the complainant’s daughter checked her father’s bank account and allegedly found that Rs 1.60 lakh had been transferred in multiple transactions through UPI using the patient’s mobile phone. The transactions were allegedly made between June 25 and July 7 without the patient’s knowledge.When the family approached the agency, its representatives allegedly denied any connection with the matter. The complainant alleged that Sachin and the agency had colluded to fraudulently transfer the money and commit criminal breach of trust.Brahmavar police have registered a case under sections 316(4) and 318(2) of the BNS.
