Mahamastakabhisheka to be held in Karkala from Feb 18

Udupi: The grand Mahamastakabhisheka, anointing ceremony of Lord Bahubali Swami, in Karkala will take place from Feb 18 to 28 next year, said MN Rajendra Kumar, executive president of Mahamastakabhisheka Committee.The date was announced during an event organised by the Karkala Lord Bahubali Swami Mahamastakabhisheka Committee at Danashale of Bhagavan Sri Bahubali Pravachana Mandira in Karkala on Sunday.Kumar emphasised the need for cooperation from the govt, opposition parties, and everyone for the grand anointing ceremony of Bahubali Swami, who has imparted a message of sacrifice to the world.Sri Lalithakeerthi Bhattaraka Pattacharyavarya Mahaswami of Karkala Jain Mutt said the message conveyed by Bahubali Swami remains relevant today. He explained that anointing is not for the deity, but to cleanse ourselves of the mistakes we may have knowingly or unknowingly committed.Udupi-Chikmagalur MP Kota Shrinivas Poojary said Mahamastakabhisheka should not be limited to the district or state, but should become a national festival.He further mentioned that society should be built as a symbol of peace, which is why Bahubali Swami is revered. “Despite conflicts, he has given a message of peace to the entire world,” the MP said, assuring efforts to secure support from the central govt for the event.D Harshendra Kumar, secretary of SDM Institutions, inaugurated the event. ZP CEO Prateek Bayal, ASP Sudhakar Nayak, prominent figures like Muniyalu Udayakumar Shetty, Kishore Alva, executive director and president of Adani Group, Alva’s Foundation president Mohan Alva, and others were present.DC Swaroopa TK inaugurated the Mahamastakabhisheka office.
