Mangaluru: The Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), in partnership with InUnity and the Mangai Foundation, organised a two-day executive workshop for SME founders and managing directors at the KCCI Meeting Hall recently.Titled ‘Leading the Next Phase of Growth’, the workshop focused on helping business leaders assess their strengths and gaps, identify growth opportunities and prepare a structured 90-day action plan.KCCI president PB Ahmed Mudassar described the programme as a one-of-a-kind initiative combining training, hands-on learning and a practical roadmap for business growth. He said the workshop enabled participants to step back from day-to-day operations, objectively evaluate their businesses and identify measures needed to scale up.InUnity co-founder and CEO Johnson Tellis urged the delegates to actively participate in the sessions and identify opportunities to unlock the growth potential of their businesses. The sessions were conducted by Mangai Foundation co-founders Shruthi Ranganath and Krishna N Venkitaraman, who have professional experience at McKinsey, HEC Paris and Infosys. They discussed how growth involves more than increasing revenue or expanding operations, and highlighted the need for founders to manage risks and take larger decisions in a phased manner. The speakers also emphasised delegation as a means of building ownership within an organisation, and creating businesses that are not entirely dependent on their founders. They discussed “tunnel vision” and how excessive involvement in daily operations can prevent founders from objectively identifying emerging opportunities and challenges.Prerana spoke about the role of climate considerations in business planning. The session examined how climate-related changes could affect business operations and risks, as well as the opportunities that could arise from adaptation. Participants were encouraged to view climate not merely as an environmental concern, but also as a factor influencing business strategy and growth. The discussions were grounded in the practical realities of the participating businesses, giving founders an opportunity to pause, reflect and define their next phase of growth.KCCI vice-president Divakar Pai Kochikar, honorary secretary Ashwin Pai Maroor and director Nissar Fakeer Mohammed were present.
