'Karuppu' OTT release date: When and where to expect the Suriya and Trisha Krishnan starrer

‘Karuppu,’ starring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, finally reached theatres on Friday after facing unexpected release-day hurdles. The film was originally scheduled to release on May 14 with special early morning shows across Tamil Nadu. However, some screenings were abruptly canceled because of financial problems. After many talks and postponements, the producers successfully sorted out the problem, and the film finally started its screenings from the morning shows on May 15.

Netflix bagged the ‘Karuppu’ OTT deal

Even as the theatrical release drama grabbed attention online, discussions about the OTT release of ‘Karuppu’ also started trending strongly. According to Filmibeat, Netflix has reportedly bagged the digital streaming rights of the film for a reasonable price. While there is still no official confirmation from the makers or the platform, sources suggest that the film could arrive on OTT nearly four weeks after its theatrical release. Initially, reports linked the film with Amazon Prime Video, but the latest buzz strongly points towards Netflix becoming the final streaming partner. Those movie lovers who were unable to catch the theatrical release owing to the delay have been eagerly anticipating the official OTT release announcement.

‘Karuppu’ release delay

The sudden cancellation of the show was highly confusing for both the audience and the theatre owners on the release day. Fans had already reserved their tickets to watch their favorite stars perform on screen, and some of them even traveled great distances for that reason. Fans took to social media sites to share emotional posts about how they responded to the turn of events. Nevertheless, hope started to return once the news broke that all the required payments had been sorted out.

RJ Balaji‘s directorial opens to a positive response

Directed by RJ Balaji, Karuppu features an ensemble cast including Yogi Babu, Swasika, Natty Subramaniam, and Indrans in important roles. The film mixes action, emotions, courtroom drama, and rural folklore elements linked to Karuppasamy worship. Music for the film has been composed by Sai Abhyankkar, whose background score has already received praise from fans after the first shows. Despite the difficult release journey, the film has now opened to positive audience reactions, especially for its interval block, performances, and mass moments.
