BENGALURU: A 52-year-old doctor practising in the US lost 725 grams of gold ornaments worth around Rs 1 crore from a convention hall in east Bengaluru while attending a wedding reception on April 22.Police said Siruvella Sridevi had come to Bengaluru on April 18 for her elder sister’s son’s wedding and was staying in Ganganagar. She went to SDP Palace in Katamnallur around 11.30am for the reception.According to her complaint, her brother K Srinivasamurthy handed over a box containing gold ornaments to her at the venue around 6.30pm. After wearing some of the jewellery, she kept the rest in the box, placed it inside a bag and locked the room allotted to her around 7pm before heading for the reception. When she returned to the room around 7.30pm, the box was missing.In her complaint, Sridevi told police that a woman working as a domestic help had come to the room while she was getting ready.Avalahally police have registered a case under BNS Section 305 and are investigating.
