Udupi/Mangaluru: A 62-year-old man died after the two-wheeler he was riding hit a tipper truck on Padubidri-Karkala Road on Monday.The deceased is Ashok Bhandary. He was riding his two-wheeler with a pillion rider from Padubidri to Karkala when the incident took place. As he was trying to overtake a heavy vehicle, his two-wheeler hit the tipper truck, causing injuries to his chest and hand. Though he was taken to a hospital in Mangaluru, doctors declared him dead. Padubidri police registered a case.In another road accident reported in Moodabettu village in Kaup, a two-wheeler rider died after a truck hit his vehicle on Monday.The deceased is Bhimappa Hunnalli. Police said the truck driver, heading from Udupi towards Mangaluru, drove negligently and collided with the front left side of a scooter. As a result, the rider and the passenger on the scooter fell onto the divider along with the scooter. Locals lifted the fallen individuals and helped them. The rider, Bhimappa Hunnalli, sustained a severe head injury, while the pillion, named Sagar, suffered minor injuries. Both were taken by ambulance to a hospital in Udupi for treatment, where doctors confirmed that Bhimappa Hunnalli had already passed away. Kaup police registered a case.In a third incident reported on Monday, a 21-year-old died after the car he was driving hit a bus stand in Eshwara Nagara, Manipal. The deceased is Karthikeya Sharma. Manipal police registered a case.Two booked for fighting during festivalPuttur town police took two individuals into custody for allegedly causing a disturbance and disrupting public peace during the festival at Puttur Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple on Monday.Police said a case under Section 194(2) of the BNS was registered against Harsha Gopal, 29, from Narimogaru, and Harish, 42, from Kabaka. Despite being advised to stop, the individuals continued their altercation.
