Suicide on Yellow Line disrupts Metro for over 2 hrs

Bengaluru: Namma Metro services on the Yellow Line were disrupted for more than two hours Monday evening after a passenger died by suicide by jumping in front of a moving train at Huskur station on Hosur Road around 5.50 pm.Following the incident, operations were suspended between Bommasandra and Electronics City. Normal services on the entire 19 km Yellow Line stretch, from Bommasandra to R V Road, were restored only around 8 pm. The disruption threw evening rush-hour travel into disarray.The deceased was identified as Rajesh Hiremath, 37. According to the police, he was working as a social media content creator and was a resident of Anantnagar in Hebbagodi. Unmarried and originally from Raichur, he was living in Bengaluru with his mother. No death note was found on him.Police further said he had worked with a YouTube channel for around a year before quitting four months ago. He had slipped into depression over job-related issues.Hiremath came under the train arriving from the Bommasandra side and heading towards R V Road. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot.“Upon noticing the passenger on the track, the train operator immediately applied emergency brakes and alerted the Operations Control Centre. Traction power was switched off, and station staff and Metro security personnel were mobilised.
