Mangaluru: Electoral registration officers (ERO) in Dakshina Kannada have identified 1,217 ineligible names in the draft electoral roll during the special intensive revision (SIR) process as on Thursday.Out of 16,46,387 voters in the draft electoral roll, 8,07,600 are men, 8,38,768 women and 19 third-gender individuals. Of the district’s 16,46,387 draft voters, 1,50,131 notices were generated for discrepancies, all of which have been delivered.Notices were served for various discrepancies, including parent age difference, progeny age gap, grandparent age difference, unmapped with last SIR, self name mismatch, and ASDD (absent, shifted, deceased, and duplicate). The hearing deadline is Oct 22.Officials said that the district has achieved significant progress in the SIR process by expediting the notice delivery and hearings. The names of ineligible voters will be removed if the discrepancies were not cleared during the hearing. They may submit Form 6 to enrol their names in the voter list. The district deputed an additional 148 assistant electoral registration officers (AERO) to complete the task of conducting hearings. Hearings have been completed for 1,49,493 notices, while the hearing dates of 308 individuals lapsed for a second time, according to officials.Names of 595 voters in the draft list were found to be ineligible for the final list due to logical discrepancies. Meanwhile, 621 were considered ineligible due to ‘no mapping’ shortcoming.Officials said the Form 6 application along with copies of the relevant documents need to be submitted to the concerned ERO/ AERO in person or it can also be sent by post.
