Mangaluru: Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodubidire, has decided to organise a national-level literary and cultural festival, Alva’s Nudisiri–Virasat, in Jan, 2027. The decision was taken at a preparatory meeting held at M Mohan Alva’s residence on Sunday. It was also decided to organise Alva’s Nudisiri and Alva’s Virasat together as a single grand event this year.Mohan Alva, chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation, said the festival has been expanding every year by giving priority to fresh ideas, innovative concepts and greater participation from the younger generation. The event would not only showcase the country’s rich cultural heritage but also provide a platform for meaningful discussions on contemporary issues such as youth, the future of Kannada, nationalism, environmental conservation and harmonious coexistence.“Our vision is to make Alva’s Nudisiri–Virasat a comprehensive festival that brings together people from different sections of society and promotes dialogue, creativity, culture and social responsibility,” he said. Senior writer Padekallu Vishnu Bhat said Alva’s Nudisiri has consistently served as a platform for promoting democratic values, tolerance and intellectual discourse. He noted that the festival, which blends literature, culture and social consciousness, has laid a strong foundation for healthy public thought.Appreciating the proposed framework for this year’s festival, he wished that it would continue to grow by giving greater importance to new ideas, youth participation and socially relevant programmes. On Dr Alva’s contribution, professor Dr Dhananjay Kumble, said, “His contribution to instilling pride in Kannada, respect for culture and socially responsible thinking among the youth is unparalleled. We hope this year’s Nudisiri–Virasat will be even more diverse and successful,” he said.The meeting also held detailed discussions on several key aspects of the festival, including the overall concept, selection of the festival president and chief guests, themes for various seminars, identification of resource persons, topics and speakers for special lectures, recipients of the Nudisiri Award, and naming of various venues.
