BENGALURU: Bengaluru police on Wednesday traced murder suspect M Shwetha to a hotel room in Puducherry, while her partner and co-accused J Kenneth continues to remain on the run.Software engineers and live-in partners Shwetha and Kenneth have been booked for allegedly murdering Shwetha’s parents — Somasundar and Muthhulakshmi — and her younger sister Supriya inside their flat at Sai Green Apartment, Seegehalli, on Monday night. After her arrest, Shwetha told police that she was unhappy with her mother Muthhulakshmi’s strict approach at home and said this was one of the reasons she decided to live with Kenneth.“My mother never gave us the freedom that we deserved. Right from high school days to end of engineering degree, I lived the life of a prisoner. My friends and classmates would tease me or feel bad on seeing my condition. Besides having parents and sister, I lived like an orphan. This attitude of my mother made me to develop hatred against her,” she told the cops.Shwetha also told police that she was the one who attacked all three victims with a knife. However, a senior police officer said the multiple stab injuries found on the victims indicated that more than one person may have been involved in the attack.Couple rode sportsbike towards PuducherryPolice said that after stabbing Somasundar, Muthhulakshmi and Supriya, the accused locked the main door from inside after Somasundar managed to run out of the flat. Shwetha and Kenneth allegedly escaped through the balcony and jumped into the basement of the adjacent apartment.CCTV footage showed the two walking out of the apartment calmly, police said.“After walking a little distance, they hailed an auto. Travelling in it, they reached Kenneth’s paying guest accommodation near Vibhutipur in HAL. Before moving into the flat with Shwetha, Kenneth lived in this PG for few months. Also, he had parked his sports motorbike there. Riding on it, they roamed in and around HAL and Marathahalli for some time. Later, they rode to Sarjapur. Here, they stopped at a roadside eatery and had tea/coffee. Then, they rode through Hosur-Krishnagiri and reached Tiruvannamalai by afternoon. From there, Kenneth rode alone to unknown destination while Shwetha boarded a bus and reached Puducherry by night. There, she checked into the hotel room,” a senior police officer said.Couple paid Rs 23,000 rent for Sai Green flatThe flat owner at Sai Green Apartment told police that Kenneth and Shwetha had introduced themselves as a married couple and said they worked from home for different software companies. The couple paid Rs 23,000 monthly rent and the rental agreement for flat number 303 was in Kenneth’s name.Security guard’s statementSecurity guard Veer Bahaddur told police that Kenneth and Shwetha had locked the main door, leaving Supriya and Muthhulakshmi injured inside the flat. After occupants alerted him about Somasundar lying in a pool of blood on the staircase, Bahaddur helped him and arranged for medical assistance. Somasundar was shifted to a nearby hospital.“While shifting him to the hospital, he (Somasundar) told us that his wife and daughter are inside the flat, with multiple stab injuries. We rushed to the flat and found it locked from outside. By then, police too arrived. It took us around 15-20 minutes to break the door and enter. The mother-daughter were swiftly shifted to hospital in another ambulance,” Bahddur said.Bahaddur also said he had seen Somasundar at the apartment earlier that day.“Memsaab (Shwetha) had informed us that her father will be coming to the apartment that afternoon. When he came, she had come down to receive him. Again in the evening, he (Somasundar) went out and returned at night with young lady (Supriya),” Bahaddur’s statement read.
