Udupi: A man was killed, and his daughter was seriously injured after a car allegedly driven rashly collided with their motorcycle on the Karkala-Padubidri State Highway near Nitte on Friday. The deceased is Naveen Chandra.According to police, the driver of a car was reportedly driving from Karkala towards Nitte at high speed and in a rash and negligent manner, moving on the extreme right side of the road. The car collided with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction, ridden by Naveen Chandra, who had his daughter Prerana as a pillion rider.Both the injured were shifted to a hospital in Karkala for treatment. However, Naveen Chandra succumbed to severe injuries at the hospital. Prerana, who was also injured, has been admitted to a hospital in Manipal for further treatment.A case has been registered at Karkala Rural police station under Sections 281, 125(a), 125(b), and 106 of the BNS.
