KSCA seeks land for promotion of cricket in Mangaluru

Mangaluru: Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) honorary president BK Venkatesh Prasad has urged the Mangaluru Urban Development Authority (Muda) to allot around 50 acres for the promotion and development of cricket in Mangaluru.“KSCA is ready to invest on infrastructure and for the development of the game in the district. Towards this direction, we seek your indulgence in the allotment of the land to build the infrastructure. Mangaluru being a district headquarters, there is a necessity to have adequate cricketing infrastructure and cricketing facilities to cater to the need of budding cricketers to showcase their potential talent,” Prasad stated in a letter to Muda chairperson Santhosh Kumar Shetty. The association is committed to utilising the proposed land exclusively for the promotion and development of cricket. The KSCA assures the govt of Karnataka that upon allotment and possession of the land, the association will undertake phased development to complete all essential infrastructure such as drainage systems, practice facilities, and other basic amenities, within a period of three years, Prasad noted.“Once the infrastructure is in place, we are confident that the young and budding sportsmen from Mangaluru and contiguous areas will benefit, besides enabling young cricketers from the region to gain from quality playing and training facilities. We request you to kindly allot the land either on a buy basis or a long-lease basis. For both the options, we request you to kindly give us your lowest rates normally offered to education and sports organisations,” Prasad stated.
