Govt PU colleges begin remedial classes after exam results

Mangaluru: Following the announcement of pre-university examination results, govt PU colleges across the district have begun remedial classes for students who were unable to clear the exams in their first attempt.It is learnt that a majority of the unsuccessful candidates are from govt PU colleges. The remedial classes began the day after the results were declared and are being conducted across colleges in the district.Jayanand Suvarna, principal, Govt PU College, Shakti Nagar, said that remedial classes began soon after the results. The govt PU colleges registered a pass percentage of 92.4. “Close to 425 fresh govt PU college candidates failed. The PU department has asked us to hold classes so that all students pass the exams. The initiative is aimed at improving exam readiness and ensuring that they are prepared for the next opportunity,” he said.A college principal said that a majority of the students failed in one subject. For example, in the arts stream, political science and English are tough for many. “We are focusing on those subjects during the remedial classes,” he said, noting that a majority of the students who failed were irregular in classes.The II PUC exam 2 (formerly supplementary) will be held from April 30. In the district, the exam will be held at eight exam centres for 213 colleges.
