Mangaluru: Mangaluru City South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath has demanded that the Congress-led govt dissolve all guarantee implementation committees across the state.The BJP MLA alleged that the govt has cut Gruha Jyothi, Gruha Lakshmi, and social security pension benefits for lakhs of people while revising the guarantee schemes, and accused it of creating confusion to cover up “massive corruption”.Kamath said the CAG report revealed that crores of rupees were paid to thousands without bank accounts, transferred to multiple accounts, and deposited in the names of deceased individuals. He alleged that benefits to eligible beneficiaries were being cut to divert public attention.The MLA questioned, “What are the guarantee implementation committees doing, which the govt itself has implemented under the leadership of hundreds of Congress leaders in every district and taluk of the state? Why have crores of rupees of the public’s tax money been wasted on their salaries, allowances, and vehicles? Do they have a share in this corruption? Is the govt shielding them?”He demanded immediate dissolution of the committees, calling them a burden on the state, and sought recovery of salaries and allowances from those who, he alleged, “wasted time without performing any duties.” He also called for a high-level probe and strict action against those involved.“The people themselves will give an answer in the next two years for the major betrayal committed by the Congress govt in the name of guarantees,” said Kamath.
