CISF returns unattended purse, gold ring to passenger at Mangaluru airport

Mangaluru: Personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at Mangaluru International Airport returned an unattended pouch containing cash, gold and important documents worth several lakhs to a passenger who had already left the airport on Sunday.The black purse was found unattended at around 6.15 am during a routine area sweep by the Quick Response Team (QRT) in the arrival area. The matter was immediately reported to the security operations control centre (SOCC), following which, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and sniffer dog team examined the bag and ruled out any security threat.On opening the purse, CISF personnel found a passport belonging to Nishal Shahik, an iPhone, a gold ring, 500 dirhams (Appox INR 11,000), 10,000 dollars (approx 9 lakhs), a boarding pass and bank cards.

As CCTV footage showed that the passenger had already exited the airport, CISF officials traced his contact details using the boarding pass with assistance from the airline. The passenger, who had arrived in Mangaluru from Dubai on Air India Express flight IX 814, was immediately informed about the missing purse and requested to return to the airport.His identity was verified and the purse was handed over with all its contents. The passenger appreciated the CISF team’s prompt action and honesty, and later shared a video message thanking the personnel for safely recovering and returning his valuables.
