Mangaluru: A booth level officer (BLO) has alleged that she was subjected to caste-based abuse while performing duties related to the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Venoor police station limits. Police said the victim, an anganwadi worker, had allegedly visited the residence of Yashoda in Shirlalu village on July 6 as part of the SIR exercise. The complainant alleged that Yashoda insulted her based on her caste, and did not allow her to enter the verandah of the house. Following this, the BLO has lodged a complaint with the police on Tuesday. Based on the complaint, Venoor police have registered a case under various sections of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
