Bengaluru: A 21-year-old street vendor, who runs a biryani shop, has been arrested on charges of posting abusive and derogatory remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his Instagram page in the backdrop of students’ protests in Delhi.The accused is Hudson alias Remo, a resident of Lingarajapuram in east Bengaluru, and a BA undergraduate. Cops said Hudson made a reel Tuesday evening and uploaded it on social media. He came under police scanner following a complaint by BJP president of Sarvagnanagar constituency Abilash Reddy M.Hudson runs Pandiyas Biryani stall on the footpath on CMR Main Road, HRBR Layout, in Kalyan Nagar, along with his brothers. He participated in a protest over NEET irregularities at Freedom Park Tuesday. He made the reel from his friend’s phone in which he allegedly questioned the Centre: “Can’t you see people are being beaten up on the streets, with stitches on their heads? What are you doing? Where are you?”Reddy told TOI, “Soon after I saw the reel with offensive content, which was socially harmful and capable of disturbing public harmony, I lodged a complaint with Banaswadi police and provided the video and link to the reel.”A senior officer said Hudson confessed to making the reel and uploading it on his social media account. A case has been registered under Information Technology Act and BNS Sections 196 (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to the maintenance of harmony) and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace).
