Udupi: A 12-year-old boy, Abdul Rehman, was killed after being hit by a car while crossing the road near Jyothinagar in Nejar village of Udupi taluk Friday.According to a complaint by Musarrath, 45, of Adarsh Nagar, Nejar, she was returning home on a scooter with her daughter Sara and younger son Rehman after visiting a school to collect books.Around 12.45pm, near a mosque at Jyothinagar in Mooduthonse village, Rehman got down from the scooter and crossed the road. As he reached the other end of the road, a car coming from the Santhekatte side towards Kemmannu allegedly hit him. The car was allegedly being driven in a rash and negligent manner, the complaint said.The impact threw the boy onto the road, causing bleeding injuries to the back of his head and right leg. He was taken to a private hospital, where doctors declared him ‘dead on arrival’.A case has been registered at Malpe police station.
