Mangaluru: A daily wager died after an electricity pole fell on him in Belthangady. The victim is Shivappa, 40.In a complaint, Ranjith, 23, stated that his uncle Shivappa was working as a daily wager for the past six years at an electrical establishment owned by Purushottama, also a resident of Kokkada. It is alleged that while carrying out work involving lifting electric poles, the employer failed to provide necessary safety equipment and did not take adequate precautionary measures. On Monday evening, near the Kokkada Sri Rama Bhajana Mandir in Kokkada village, an electric pole reportedly fell on Shivappa while it was being lifted. He sustained severe injuries and died on the spot. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered at Dharmasthala police station under Section 106 of the BNS, and an investigation is underway.
