Udupi: Director general of police and inspector general of police MA Saleem visited the Coastal Security Force in Malpe and the district police office in Udupi and held a meeting with the officials on Tuesday.During the meeting held at the district police office auditorium, he commended the measures taken by the police for communal harmony in the district and instructed them to continue with it. He directed strict action against rowdy elements and those involved in illegal activities. He appreciated the implementation of the Aasare programme, which he introduced during his tenure as Udupi district SP and which is now being implemented across Karnataka, with full implementation in Udupi district. He also suggested strengthening other “community policing” systems like police visits to homes, Spandana and Child Helplines. He noted that the citizens of Udupi district are well educated and peace-loving.
