Mangaluru: A man from Karkala, repeatedly involved in drug trafficking and sale, has been arrested under the PIT NDPS Act.Mohammad Faizal, 22, resident of Kukkundoor in Karkala taluk, has been booked under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act. The accused, who comes under the jurisdiction of Karkala station, was found involved in cases of drug trafficking and sale, adversely affecting public health and safety. Based on a report submitted by the police inspector of Karkala town police station, the SP, Udupi district, forwarded the proposal for the arrest to the Inspector General of Police, Western Range, Mangaluru. After reviewing the cases registered against the accused, the IGP issued the orders on Tuesday. The order was executed the same day by Karkala police, and the accused has been lodged in the central prison in Dharwad. Five cases related to drug trafficking and sale have been registered against him. Of these, he has been convicted in two cases, two are currently under trial in court, and one case remains under investigation.
