Mangaluru: A 53-year-old Air India Express passenger travelling from Tiruchirappalli to Mumbai via Mangaluru was found dead in a hotel in Mangaluru Sunday after missing his connecting flight.Police identified the deceased as Sushant, a resident of Dombivli in Maharashtra.In a statement, the airline said the passenger was informed while boarding at Tiruchirappalli that a delay would cause him to miss his connecting flight from Mangaluru. With his consent, the airline arranged overnight accommodation in the city and booked him on a flight the following day.The incident came to light when airline staff arrived at the hotel to pick up the passenger for his onward journey, police said. Hotel staff told police that the passenger had complained of uneasiness Saturday night. He consumed soup and took medication for acidity.Packets of antacids were found in his room, a police officer said, adding that further formalities will be completed after his relatives arrive.In a statement, an Air India Express spokesperson expressed condolences to the bereaved family. The airline said it would extend all possible assistance to the family and continue to cooperate fully with local authorities.
