Mangaluru: Deputy commissioner Darshan HV has directed officials to intensify the registration of students and youth under the MY Bharat initiative of the Union ministry of youth affairs and sports.Chairing the MY Bharat Advisory Committee meeting at the deputy commissioner’s office on Tuesday, he said that 42,778 individuals and 156 youth clubs have been registered in Dakshina Kannada so far, and stressed the need to increase these numbers. He directed officials to launch special registration campaign in pre-university and degree colleges and submit a progress report by the end of this month.Additional deputy commissioner Raju K said efforts should be made to encourage greater participation of students and youth from the district in various MY Bharat programmes. He asked officials to widely publicise educational, cultural and inter-state exchange programmes to ensure better participation.MY Bharat deputy director Ullas KTK. said an action plan has been prepared for the current year. Under the plan, programmes such as the Viksit Bharat Padayatra, Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, leadership camps, awareness programmes, seminars on key govt schemes, distribution of sports equipment, cleanliness drives, self-employment training, youth parliament, and several other initiatives will be organised. Senior officials were present at the meeting. The deputy commissioner also unveiled the poster for the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
