BENGALURU: City police have arrested a 24-year-old man for allegedly murdering his grandmother after she repeatedly advised him to become more responsible and find a job.Prajwal, a resident of KS Layout, has been booked for the murder of his maternal grandmother, D Gowramma.According to police, Prajwal’s mother, Lakshmi, had sent him to stay with and look after Gowramma, who was living alone at her house in Kenchagoravaiahna Doddi near Bannerghatta.Gowramma’s husband, Dodda Durugaiah, had gone to Kanakapura for some work.“Gowramma would often advise Prajwal not to waste time or spend money unnecessarily. A college dropout, Prajwal had never held on to a job for long. He had been unemployed for the past few months, which often led to arguments between them,” a police officer said.According to the police, Gowramma again advised Prajwal on Tuesday night before retiring to bed. “Around 2am, Prajwal allegedly went to the kitchen, picked up a knife and slit her throat,” the officer said.Police said the accused then returned to his house in KS Layout, where he allegedly confessed to his mother, Lakshmi, that he had killed Gowramma.“Prajwal fled after the incident. We traced him to a hideout near Bannerghatta on Wednesday afternoon and arrested him,” the officer added.
