Bengaluru: Greater Bengaluru Authority will launch a month-long ‘Freedom from Waste’ campaign in August to eliminate garbage blackspots and improve cleanliness in the city.Chairing a meeting with GBA officials and commissioners of five city corporations, Bengaluru development minister Krishna Byre Gowda said private sites with waste should not be cleared until August 15, giving owners time to remove the garbage themselves. After the deadline, civic bodies will clear those sites and recover the cost from owners by adding the amount to their property tax arrears.The campaign will target garbage, solid waste, construction and demolition debris, soil mounds, weeds and other waste across the GBA limits. Officials have been asked to coordinate with agencies, including Bengaluru Solid Waste Management, K-RIDE, Railways and Metro, to ensure a citywide effort.Illegal advertisements: Minister Krishna Byre Gowda directed officials to remove all unauthorised ad boards, particularly illegally installed digital displays.
