Trailer truck driver, owner booked for traffic disruption on NH-66

Mangaluru: Mangaluru city police have booked the driver and owner of a massive trailer truck for disrupting traffic for over an hour on NH-66.Police said the trailer, arriving from the Panambur Beach direction, was driven by Vinod Kumar Singh in a negligent manner, endangering human life Sunday. The vehicle collided with a roadside electric pole, causing traffic disruption on the highway for over an hour.Preliminary investigation revealed that the trailer was transporting heavy machinery without obtaining the necessary permits, providing prior notice, or implementing the required safety measures.A case has been registered at the Mangaluru traffic north police station against the driver, the owner of the transport company, and company officials involved in the transport of machinery under sections 281 and 285 of the BNS and sections 184 and 201 of the Indian Motor Vehicles Act. Legal action has been initiated.City police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy CH said that in the interest of public safety and smooth traffic flow, drivers of oversized vehicles and transport organisations must strictly adhere to regulations by obtaining necessary permits and following mandatory safety measures.
