BENGALURU: A pigmy collector sustained severe head injuries after a branch of a mahogany tree fell on him while he was travelling at Rajajinagar, west Bengaluru.SK Suresh, 53, who works with Raghavendra Finance Company, fell unconscious on the road Wednesday as the branch suddenly snapped and struck him on the head. Locals shifted the Nagawara resident to ESI Hospital, where he received first aid. Doctors later referred him to a private hospital in Yeshwantpur for specialised treatment owing to the severity of hi s injuries. Officials said forest department personnel and medical authorities visited the hospital, where doctors performed emergency surgery. On Thursday, a second surgery was carried out after blood clotting was detected in a portion of the brain. Suresh remains under treatment in the intensive care unit, sources said.The incident was brought to the attention of Bengaluru west zone authorities and the office of Rajajinagar MLA S Suresh Kumar. Officials noted that dry and dead branches along the stretch had been cleared on June 3 as part of routine maintenance work.
