Music took centre stageMusic lovers marked World Music Day with performances across the city. At the Sri M Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology hosted a unique musical feat. A world record was attempted with 100 flutes, 50 sitars and one voice, led by singer Ramya Vasishta, flautist HS Venugopal, Hindustani vocalist Iman Das and sitar player Dr Jayant Kumar Das.
Engines roar on World Motorcycle DayChamara Vajra grounds turned into a biker’s paradise as the Association of Biking Community India hosted World Motorcycle Day celebrations. The event drew more than 10,000 riders, featured over 60 motorcycle and lifestyle brands, stunt shows, exhibitions, biker fashion and talent shows, along with interactive activities. Bollywood actor John Abraham was among the highlights of the gathering.
A march for equalityAdding another layer to the city’s vibrant Sunday was the Karnataka Swabhimana Habba Pride March. Organised by the Coalition for Sex Workers’, Sexual and Gender Minorities’ Rights (CSGMR) along with community organisations, activists, students and allies, the march celebrated diversity while peacefully asserting constitutional rights. Participants reaffirmed that queer, trans, intersex and non-binary persons are an integral part of Karnataka‘s social and cultural fabric, while also highlighting key demands for equality and inclusion.
