Shopowner booked over pet dogs causing public nuisance

TIMES NEWS NETWORKUdupi: A case has been registered at the Udupi Town police station against the owner of a local electrical shop for negligence and failing to control pet dogs that allegedly endanger the public. The incident was reported after Sathish, a Health Inspector at the Udupi City Municipality, conducted an inspection on May 27. Following public complaints regarding the behavior of dogs kept at a residence near an electrical shop in Shivalli village, the health Inspector visited the site under the orders of the municipal commissioner.During the visit, two men objected to the inspection. While observing the site, the official noted that three dogs were roaming freely in the open yard without any restraints or protective measures to prevent them from entering the public road. Local residents reportedly informed the officer that the dogs frequently chase schoolchildren, elderly morning walkers, motorists, cyclists, and motorcyclists. Residents expressed grave concern that the animals often dart into traffic, posing a high risk of road accidents and potential loss of life, police said.Despite clear instructions from the health inspector to relocate or secure the animals, the owners reportedly failed to take any corrective action. Following this, the Udupi Town police registered a case under Sections 291and 292, read with 3(5) of the BNS.
