Elderly woman dies in road accident

Udupi/Mangaluru: A 78-year-old woman was killed in an accident after a car hit her near Arasarabettu cross, Beejadi village in Kundapur on Thursday. The deceased is Chandramathi, a resident of Gopadi village in Kundapur. Police said Chandramathi was walking by the side of the road when the incident occurred. Chandramathi, who was walking, was hit from behind, resulting in a serious bleeding head injury and loss of consciousness. She was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, where doctors confirmed she had already passed away. Kundapur traffic police have registered a case.Cattle transportation: two bookedUppinangady police held two people for transporting 16 cattle without documents in a truck at Anebail on Wednesday. Upon checking, police found cattle in the vehicle. Driver Pardeen Khan, 24, a resident of Kadur and another accused Javed Pasha, 34, of Holenarsipura, failed to provide documents related to the cattle transportation. Following this, the truck and cattle were seized. A case under sections 5, 6, and 12 of the Karnataka prevention of slaughter and preservation of cattle act, 2020; section 11(d) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act; and section 3(5) of the BNS has been registered and an investigation is under way, police said.
