Cong trains MLAs to vote at council polls, few stay back at the resort

BengaluruThe Congress legislature party headed by chief minister DK Shivakumar on Tuesday held a meeting at a private resort on the outskirts of Bengaluru in order to provide training to the 40-odd first time MLAs on how to vote at the legislative council elections. With the party fielding five candidates, a contest is expected with the JD(S) for the fifth seat as both sides are short on the numbers for a clear victory for that seat.“In order to ensure that no vote is wasted, the party is holding the training for the legislators,” said a Congress functionary.Meanwhile, the CLP is also expected to see the new CM Shivakumar having a “meet and greet” of all his colleagues for the first time after assuming charge as the CM.Meanwhile, party MLAs suggest that there was no clarity on whether all will stay back in the resort or only a few.“While some outstation MLAs are expected to stay back, others may return to their homes in Bengaluru,” said leaders and functionaries, citing the MLAs who are doubtful and may be incited to cross votemay be asked to stay back.Interestingly, the pre-bookings for the resort were all cancelled on account of the CLP and the arrival of the VVIPs to the location.Ends
