BJP keeps Nitin Nabin’s Karnataka visit low key

Bengaluru: With BJP national president Nitin Nabin undertaking his maiden trip to Karnataka after assuming office, the party has decided against holding a grand public reception or roadshow during the visit.The BJP leadership has instructed the state unit to keep the programme simple in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s repeated appeals for fuel conservation and responsible use of petroleum products.Party workers and leaders had initially planned a large welcome programme, but the central leadership reportedly stepped in and directed the Karnataka BJP unit to scale down the arrangements.Sunday, Nabin is scheduled to attend a breakfast meeting at the residence of party veteran BS Yediyurappa. He will later offer prayers at the Kadu Malleshwara temple before proceeding to the state BJP office. He will preside over a state core committee meeting at 2pm.In the evening, Nabin will preside over the valedictory of the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya BJP Prashikshan Maha Abhiyan of Bengaluru North district at Ramada Resort in Yelahanka. The two day workshop will see participation of Bengaluru North district BJP office-bearers.The visit comes at a crucial time for Karnataka BJP amid discussions over organisational restructuring and preparations for 2028 assembly polls.Monday, senior state functionaries are expected to hold meetings with Nabin on leadership change and future political strategy in the state.
