Make-A-Wish brings cheer to young cancer patients

Udupi: In a heartwarming initiative, the department of paediatric oncology, Kasturba Medical College and Hospital, Manipal, in collaboration with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, brought joy and hope to children undergoing cancer treatment by fulfilling their cherished wishes.The initiative aimed to uplift young patients and their families, offering moments of happiness and emotional relief during a challenging phase of their lives. The Make-A-Wish Foundation, headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, was dedicated to granting wishes to children with serious illnesses and operated across more than 50 countries through its international network.The event was organised in association with the Make-A-Wish Foundation’s Bengaluru chapter. Sharan Chilimbi, digital creator, and Rakshitha Shetty, runner-up of a reality show, were the chief guests. Dr Anil K Bhat, dean of KMC Manipal, Dr Sudhakar Kantipudi, COO of Teaching Hospitals, MAHE, Manipal, Dr Avinash Shetty, medical superintendent of Kasturba Hospital, and AB Bosco, representing the Make-A-Wish Foundation, were present.As part of the programme, 75 children undergoing treatment received gifts of their choice, collectively valued at over Rs 10 lakh.
